As a Trainee Farm Manager, you will embark on an immersive learning journey in the heart of agricultural operations.
This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals with a background in farming or agriculture to develop their skills and expertise under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
You will be involved in various aspects of farm management, from crop cultivation to livestock care, while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the farm, including planting, harvesting, and livestock management.
  • Learn and implement best practices for soil management, pest control, and crop rotation.
  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of farm equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor and maintain health and welfare standards for farm animals.

Do you have a passion for farming and a drive to learn and grow? If so, our client, based in Monaghan, is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Trainee Farm Managers – Junior Growers.

Role: Trainee Farm Manager – Junior Grower

Reports to: Farm Manager

Main Duties:

  • Manage and roster a large, international workforce including supervisors, collectors, compost filling team, and harvesting staff.
  • Oversee and participate in farm operations such as filling and emptying tunnels, pesticide application, and general site cleaning.
  • Ensure productivity, crop yield, and efficiency targets are met according to company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Forecast production on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Conduct daily farm walks, quality spot-checks, and report quality issues to the production team.
  • Maintain farm records in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Utilize computer systems including Fancom (climate control for growing) and iGrow (production app).

Other Tasks:

  • Enforce company rules regarding food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and disease control among staff.
  • Ensure smooth site logistics and adherence to strict timelines.
  • Liaise with all departments of the company as necessary (Operations, Technical, Packhouse, Finance, HR, NPD etc.).

Successful Candidates Will Be:

  • Local to Monaghan, Cavan farms.
  • Flexible regarding working hours and days.
  • Flexible regarding work duties, encompassing managerial, operational, and physical tasks.
  • Eager to learn and develop within the company.
  • From an agri-business/farm background or education.

Technical Assistant – Permanent – Monaghan

Located in the heart of Monaghan, this role offers a unique blend of technical, field, and administrative duties spanning across farms, packhouses, and customer interactions. It's a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a passion for agriculture, who are keen on driving quality and meeting customer expectations. This position is perfectly suited for candidates who enjoy travel between sites, thus requiring own means of transport.

Salary: €28,000 per annum

Role Responsibilities:

  • Audit and Customer Visits: Engage in preparing and participating in audits and customer visits at farms and packhouses.
  • Traceability: Conduct regular traceability audits to maintain high standards of product integrity.
  • Quality Management: Work closely with production, QA, and farms to enhance product quality and align with customer expectations.
  • Complaints Management: Handle complaint investigations and ensure comprehensive follow-up and reporting.
  • Corrective Actions: Proactively assist in corrective action processes and root cause analysis, including follow-up and reporting.
  • Specifications Management: Manage documentation and issuance of specifications for farms and packing, updating customer technical libraries accordingly.
  • New Product Lines: Ensure accurate setup of labelling machines, and train relevant operators on associated records and packing specifications.
  • QC Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the packhouse QC team to identify training needs and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Training: Conduct packhouse staff inductions and train on new procedures.
  • Laboratory Submissions: Oversee the preparation and submission of products, water, and swabs for laboratory testing.
  • Policy and Procedure Updates: Maintain company policies, procedures, and records.
  • HACCP Team Member: Actively participate in the HACCP team, contributing to food safety and quality.
  • Cleaning and Compliance: Train staff in cleaning procedures and ensure compliance across all operations.
  • Internal Audits: Manage and conduct internal audits as scheduled.
  • GMP Enforcement: Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices across all growing sites and packhouses.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in technical, quality assurance, or a related role in agriculture or food production is highly valued.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of audit processes, traceability, and quality management.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A proactive problem-solver and effective team player.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and adaptable to new software and systems.
