Osborne Changing Lives – Jordan’s Story

When I first applied for the position that I hold today I was living in Drogheda, working in sales in a shop in the local town. The experience I gained from this position was great but while I was gaining invaluable experience it was to the detriment of my work life balance and physical health.

I heard from Osborne shortly after applying for my current position and was kept well informed during the entire interview process. I felt like the team at Osborne were exceptionally reassuring and helpful throughout the entire process.

I received word that I was successful in my application shortly after the interview process, news that I was truly delighted to hear. The job that I was applying for would give me the ability to move to an area closer to my friends and family allowing me to spend more time with them.

I am now living in an area where I am closer to my friends and family that, thanks to my new position, is financially feasible for me. Again, my working hours have also greatly increased the amount of time that I am able to spend with my loved ones. I have also been able to re-join the gym and spend more time enjoying my other hobbies.

The current position I hold has also been exceptionally beneficial regarding the new experience and knowledge that I am gaining, all of which I feel will help  grow my professional career. All in all, I am very thankful for the position that I hold and the opportunity that has been provided to me.

Osborne visits Seattle as part of Trade Mission

Osborne’s Director of Commercial Development David Walsh and Senior Commercial Development Manager Jim Wylie were delighted to travel to Seattle as part of a trade mission recently with Fingal County Council and Fingal Chamber.

The trade mission, led by the outgoing Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Howard Mahony, and Fingal Chamber Vice-President Kevin Smith was to create economic, educational and tourism opportunities between Fingal and Washington State. They were joined by Fingal County Council Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly, Fingal Chamber Chief Executive Anthony Cooney and the President of Dublin City University, Daire Keogh.

Speaking following the trip David Walsh Director of Commercial Development with Osborne said “It was a fantastic visit and striking to see the reach that Irish organisations and Irish based companies have in the world. What was most impressive is how many of these world changing and world leading initiatives originated, or are being driven from Ireland. With valuable insights into what is happening in terms of sustainability and green tech it was a exceptional insight into what businesses can do to meet the challenges around innovation and education”

Jim Wylie, Senior Commercial Development Manager with Osborne also said “Our Trade Mission was an excellent opportunity to forge strategic relationships with other members of the Trade Mission from Fingal County Council, Technological University Dublin, Dublin City University and Skillnet Ireland along with our strategic partner, Fingal Chamber of

Commerce. Visiting Seattle allowed Osborne to get 1st hand knowledge of new ideas and innovations and also develop new links on an International

level.”

I had been with my previous employer for years before I got sick with breast cancer in 2020. It was obviously a really stressful time in my life, so I took some time out to focus on my health and get better. The country was in the thick of Covid at the time so when the opportunity to take redundancy came up, I took it.

Many of my colleagues had since moved on and I didn’t want to go back to the office when so many of the people I knew were no longer there so I took that extra time to focus on me and my family and figure out what the next step was going to look like for me.

After a while I decided it was time to go back to work because I was really missing the routine and the interaction with colleagues. I was searching for something suitable for a long time and had almost given up hope when Valerie from Osborne called.

I was delighted when she told me that there was a part time position available that she felt would be a perfect fit for me. It was of course pretty dauting going back to work after being out for a while but the support I had was great. I now work from home part time and it’s just so lovely to be in a routine again and it’s great to have that work life balance especially with my children.

My health is good at the moment which is great and I’m off out tonight to meet some of my new colleagues for a meal which is lovely. I’m delighted with how things are working out!

I also can’t thank Valerie from Osborne enough who has been so supportive to me throughout this whole process!

Thank you Valerie and thank you Osborne #ChangingLives

_____________

Initially when I decided to return to the workplace after spending some time at home in Brazil, I wasn’t feeling very confident. Even though I had many years of work experience under my belt I still felt slightly insecure because I didn’t have experience in the Irish jobs market.

Then, I came across Osborne and spoke to a wonderful Recruitment Consultant, David McCoy from the Blanchardstown office. He was extremely kind, professional and supportive and explained the whole process very clearly. He helped me find opportunities that were a perfect fit for my skillset and experience.

At first, I worked as a temp which was a great experience and the opportunity to get back into the workforce and boost my confidence. After a while, with his help, I was delighted to be offered a permanent job that really suited my skills and experience, and I am so happy.

I don’t have the words to explain how thankful I am to David and to Osborne who really took the time to understand the type of role that I was best suited to and helped me along my career path, I am beyond grateful.”
