This is a senior professional role requiring extensive technical experience at all project stages from project inception through procurement, construction and operations. The ability to engage with stakeholders and to support the wider team are also key aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key tasks the successful candidate will be required to perform include:

  • Providing technical mechanical and electrical engineering advice to the project management teams delivering services to client government departments and agencies.
  • Creating and maintaining stakeholder relationships with various parties including internal and external stakeholders and maintaining good project corporate governance structures including representing the organisation at key project meetings.
  • Advising on Mechanical and Electrical building systems through the design, planning, procurement, construction, commissioning and operation phases of large scale public capital projects.
  • Implementation of robust climate action/sustainability strategies and oversight of scheme design to ensure high sustainable development standards.
  • Contributing Technical input to project documentation schedules including works and operational requirements.
  • Reporting of mechanical and electrical services project risks and control measures including in relation to costs and change control, programme, health and safety construction quality
  • Participating in tender evaluation panels and various workgroups related to project procurement delivery.
  • Assisting in the procurement and management of external technical advisors.
  • Advising on facilities management aspects of mechanical and electrical systems and lifecycle replacement strategies in respect of mechanical and electrical components and elements.

 

Qualifications/Knowledge

  • 10 years relevant experience relating to the delivery of mechanical and electrical services for major building or infrastructure projects in a client facing lead engineering design role.
  • Third level degree (or equivalent) or higher in mechanical, electrical or building services engineering.
  • Chartered membership of Engineers Ireland, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers or another relevant professional institution.
  • Previous experience of Public Private Partnership projects is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of key issues and management strategies associated with climate change/sustainability, environmental, social and governance factors on large scale building projects.
  • Post-graduate climate action/sustainability qualification (desirable).

  • Maintain & complete server/SharePoint for all SSE proposals completed.
  • Ensure all solutions and services selected and quoted to an optimum and competitive standard.
  • Ensure pricing and margins are in full compliance with required authorizations.
  • Ensure maintenance renewals are sent out on time and followed up with any issues raised to the area service sales engineer or service leader.
  • Invoicing

Your qualifications:

  • Technical graduate preferably with certification in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or proven experience in a similar role
  • Some experience in HVAC business would be preferred, technical services business or similar industry (e.g. direct sales, back-selling, customer service) and technical activity focused on technical products/solutions. 
  • Strong computer skills, including excel, experience with CRM systems and service database management advantage.
  • Client facing experience and comfort with internal/external sales deadlines.
  • Ability to manage the expectations of a senior sales team and prioritise work effectively.

Electrical CAD Design:

  • Create detailed electrical designs of BMS panels using CAD software.
  • Develop comprehensive wiring diagrams, schematics, and layouts.

BMS Panel Design:

  • Design and size MCBs (Miniature Circuit Breakers), transformers, and 24V Power Supplies for BMS panels.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop I/O (Input/Output) wiring diagrams for BMS panels.
  • Coordinate with the engineering team to integrate I/O components seamlessly.

Technical Documentation:
