Service Engineer

We are seeking a experienced Service Engineer to join our Global Clients team based in Shannon. In this role, you will play a key part in service operations, providing high-quality technical support to ensure customers receive reliable and responsive service.

For You:

  • Salary – €40,000 – €45,000

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical seal/rotating equipment  technical issues promptly and efficiently.

  • Disassemble, inspect, and repair customer-returned products at the service centre, following best practices and QHSE standards.

  • Manage the open order book to consistently meet customer delivery expectations in line with contractual agreements, ensuring spare parts are ordered and received in a timely manner to complete repairs.

  • Provide on-site customer support including training, technical assistance, troubleshooting, seal installation/removal, and commissioning.

  • Accurately document all mechanical seal/rotating equipment failure analyses and field service activities using specialist software, and produce customer reports.

  • Work with local facility management and contractors to maintain all critical service equipment and tools; ensure they are serviced, calibrated, and tested for accuracy and reliability.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate technical information to customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues locally and internationally, as well as with customers and suppliers.

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies across all service operations.

  • Collaborate with and support the Sales team by providing regular feedback on customer needs throughout the service process, and escalate any technical issues or operational risks to management and Sales & Service teams.

Requirements:

  • Technical experience in mechanical seals / rotating equipment.

  • Education or qualification in mechanical engineering is a plus.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Knowledge of safety compliance and environmental regulations.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Key Responsibilities:
Automotive Mirror Glass Processing

  • Lead process development for cutting, tempering, coating, and laminating mirror-grade glass.
  • Optimize application of reflective and protective coatings (e.g., aluminum, chrome, anti-fog, or anti-glare).
  • Develop and validate bonding methods for multi-layer assemblies and mirror substrates.

Manufacturing & Process Engineering

  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable production processes with high yield and repeatability.
  • Apply DOE, root cause analysis, and SPC to resolve process variation and drive continuous improvement.
  • Select and qualify equipment, automation, and tooling for new or improved processes.

Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Cost Optimization

  • Collaborate with design and product engineering teams to influence mirror and glass designs for manufacturability.
  • Propose solutions that balance optical performance, durability, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify assembly steps, reduce scrap, and improve raw material utilization

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with R&D, product design, and operations to bring new mirror technologies into production.
  • Challenge established processes and assumptions constructively, driving innovation while maintaining credibility with veteran team members.
  • Act as the technical voice for glass processing in cross-functional forums.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–10 years in glass processing, coatings, or mirror/display manufacturing
  • Automotive experience highly valued; transferable experience from consumer electronics, architectural glass, or touch display industries considered.
  • Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments with stringent quality standards.
  • Expertise in coating technologies (PVD, CVD, sputtering, chemical deposition) and bonding/lamination.
  • Knowledge of glass properties, adhesion, and failure mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in SPC, FMEA, Lean/Six Sigma methods.

Duties / Responsibilities

Job Context

• Reporting to the National Maintenance Manager
• The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership for Maintenance Team across all sites.

• Heavily involved in the creation of training programs with Maintenance Manager

Purpose of the Job
• To Provide Technical Leadership to the Maintenance Staff, in areas of technical difficulty that may arise as part of the daily duties..
• To provide a key focus for the provision of long term solutions to technical issues that arise on all equipment, providing the technical solution that our maintenance staff will eventually use.
• To provide backup for the Maintenance team including the Maintenance Mgr wrt all technical issues.

• To be the technical expert that the maintenance team can turn to for a higher level of support on any machine related issue.
• Qualification of our Preventative, Predictive, Corrective maintenance and machine performance.

Main Responsibilities
• Attending and reporting on performance testing onsite. Using the failure information obtained during testing to develop better and improved maintenance practices within the group, feeding back this information to maintenance staff via supervisor and manager.
• Developing and maintaining customer relationships with users of the centre to the satisfaction of the customer
• Diagnosing and solving problems in a planned and cost effective way, taking into account technicians needs and the needs of the customer.
• Taking a proactive approach to the prevention of breakdowns and maintaining high quality of machine performance and machine availability, in a role that assists the Maintenance Team
• Developing, utilising and maintaining appropriate information systems, identify problem areas and modifications for machine improvements.
• Follow up on improvements to provide a continually improving service to the customer.
• Be aware of and in accordance with current health and safety legislation and best practices as it relates to the workplace give guidance and direction to others where necessary.
• Implementation/modification and generation of Maintenance productive maintenance procedures.
• Communicate with others in the organisation understanding their views and needs, explaining and presenting information that will be easily understood and directing as necessary.
• Taking the lead role in co-coordinating technical issues that require longer term solutions, ensuring that all the necessary external support if and when required, is utilised effectively (cost and timeliness). • Accurate and concise reporting of all such investigations providing traceable reports detailing all investigations, findings and conclusions.

• Provide Second level of escalation for equipment faults, assisting as required.
• It is important that this role assumes overall technical expertise with the equipment, addressing and resolving the high level issues that arise out of performance testing, routine maintenance and live performance. The solutions obtained by means of detailed investigations will then be fed back to the maintenance team via the appropriate route ( maint mgr, tech supervisor, technician) with the appropriate recommendations for modification of the process or procedures.
• All aspects of Spares management including tracking (CMMS), sourcing, purchasing, deliveries and invoicing.

Knowledge Skills and Experience
• Expertise in automation systems with specialist knowledge of key elements and understanding of their function.
• The current (large) equipment suppliers include; NEC, Leonardo, Beumer and EA&E.
• A recognised engineering qualification which provides expertise in Electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering and knowledge on replacement of all computer systems.
• Experience in planning, organising and solving advanced technical issues using proper traceable methods.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at work.
• Interpersonal skills such as the ability to make technical problems understood by non-technical people, listening coaching, and supporting motivation.
• Advanced problem -solving skills, including using and interpreting statistical tests and data.
• To assist growth in the technical knowledge and expertise of the full Maintenance team through observation, suggestion and action as necessary.

We are recruiting a Quality Manager on behalf of one of our well-known clients based in Naas, to lead the Quality function within a fast-paced food production environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality and compliance across the site.

The Role:
Reporting to the Plant Technical Manager, this role will lead the Quality team and take ownership of the site’s Quality and Food Safety Management Systems. You will ensure full compliance with regulatory, customer and third-party standards while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and business processes.
This role requires strong leadership capability, technical expertise and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead, coach and develop a team of quality professionals
Influence decision-making to ensure food safety and quality standards are prioritised
Collaborate cross-functionally and represent Quality at senior management level
Provide expert guidance on food safety, legislation and best practices

Quality Systems & Compliance
Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
Lead HACCP and TACCP programmes, ensuring robust food safety and defence systems
Ensure compliance with BRC standards, customer requirements and regulatory bodies
Manage internal audit programmes and lead external audits

Operational Excellence
Drive plant-wide quality improvement initiatives and process enhancements
Monitor KPIs, analyse trends and implement corrective actions
Oversee non-conformance management, root cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure effective product traceability, testing programmes and shelf-life management

Customer & Supplier Management
Act as the key contact for customer quality queries, audits and complaints
Maintain product specifications and quality standards across all products
Support business development through technical expertise and customer engagement
Oversee supplier approval, auditing and performance management

Training & Development
Champion food safety and quality training across the site (HACCP, hygiene, allergens, etc.)
Build a strong quality culture through continuous development and engagement

Experience & Skills:
A diploma or higher qualification in Food Science or a related discipline is required
HACCP certification is essential
Lead Auditor qualification is desirable
3–5+ years’ experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality role within the food industry
Strong experience working with retailers and regulatory bodies
In-depth knowledge of BRC Global Food Standards and food safety systems
Proven leadership and team management experience
Strong understanding of HACCP principles
Experience managing audits (internal, customer and regulatory)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in MS Office and quality reporting tools
