Technical service engineer
The Technical service engineer will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and technical support of dental and X-ray equipment across Europe.
This role requires frequent international travel and close collaboration with customers, distributors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
As part of a dynamic and evolving organisation, this role will adapt over time to meet business needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Perform installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of dental and X-ray equipment across European territories.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with clients by delivering a high standard of technical support and customer service.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment performance improvements and contribute to the development of enhanced maintenance strategies.
  • Take ownership of designated product lines and develop subject-matter expertise.
  • Train veterinarians, nurses, third-party engineers, and support staff to a high level of technical competence.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of wet lab training events when required.
  • Attend local, national, and international exhibitions, meetings, sales events, and training sessions.

Planning, Reporting & Administration

  • Plan, organise, and coordinate assigned tasks in liaison with the Support Manager.
  • Arrange and manage own international travel, including flights and accommodation, to maximise efficiency.
  • Provide quotations and generate sales orders for service work and spare parts using CRM software.
  • Maintain and expand the client database within the assigned service territory.
  • Report service activity, feedback, and performance metrics using CRM and other reporting tools.
  • Set and work towards personal performance and development targets.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Comply fully with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and procedures at all times.
  • Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Attend work fit for duty and free from intoxicants.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and company-issued equipment (phone, laptop, etc.) to a high standard.

Job Activity:

• Authorising purchasing requests completed by stores person.
• Responsible for Preventative, Predictive, Corrective maintenance and machine performance.

Purpose of the Job
• To Provide Leadership to the Senior Technicians, Technicians and Technical Cleaners in technical or operational matters.
• To Provide the key focus for liaisons with Maintenance Manager and Shift Managers

Main Responsibilities
• Developing and maintaining customer relationships with users of the centre to the satisfaction of the customer
• Diagnosing and solving problems in a planned and cost effective way, taking into account technicians needs and the needs of the customer.
• Taking a proactive approach to the prevention of breakdowns and maintaining high quality of machine performance and machine availability.
• Developing , utilising and maintaining appropriate information systems, identify problem areas and modifications for machine improvements.
• Follow up on improvements to provide a continually improving service to the customer.
• Be aware of, and in accordance with current health and safety legislation and best practices as it relates to the workplace, give guidance and direction to others where necessary.
• Coaching and training Technicians and Technical cleaners on best practices on productive maintenance procedures.
• Communicate with others within the organization, understanding their views and needs, explaining and presenting information that will he easily he understood and directing as necessary.
• Taking the lead role in co-coordinating technical issues within the team encouraging and supporting the initiatives of team members.
• Identifying and responding to changing, operational needs, demonstrating flexibility and ensuring that the team understands the requirements of the customer and fine tuning performance.
• Provide first level of escalation for equipment faults

Knowledge Skills and Experience

• Expertise in automation systems with specialist knowledge of key elements and understanding of their function internally.
• A recognised engineering qualification which provides expertise in Electrical electronic and mechanical engineering and knowledge on replacement of all computer systems
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at work.
• Interpersonal skills such as the ability to make technical problems understood by non-technical people, listening coaching, and supporting motivation.
• Advanced problem solving skills, including using and interpreting statistical tests.
• The ability to make use of diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Expertise in all key elements of the mail centre.
• The ability to lead and motivate the team.

Decisions:
• Decision in consultations with the shift manager(s), when to take a machine out of a service for repair.
• Working out, by use of appropriate tools and techniques improvement opportunities and prioritising their implementation.
• Where appropriate coaching, developing technicians and technical cleaners on total preventative maintenance.
• In consultation with the Maintenance Manager, modification and implementation of maintenance routines.
• Decision on escalation of fault status to next level

    Job Context

    • Reporting to the National Maintenance Manager
    • The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership for Maintenance Team across all sites.

    Purpose of the Job

    • To Provide Technical Leadership to the Maintenance Staff, in areas of technical difficulty that may arise as part of the daily duties..
    • To provide a key focus for the provision of long term solutions to technical issues that arise on all equipment, providing the technical solution that our maintenance staff will eventually use.
    • To provide backup for the Maintenance team including the Maintenance Mgr wrt all technical issues.
    • To provide cover for technical supervisor and Manager where required
    • To be the technical expert that the maintenance team can turn to for a higher level of support on any machine related issue.
    • Qualification of our Preventative, Predictive, Corrective maintenance and machine performance.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Attending and reporting on performance testing onsite. Using the failure information obtained during testing to develop better and improved maintenance practices within the group, feeding back this information to maintenance staff via supervisor and manager.

    • Accurate and concise reporting of all such investigations providing traceable reports detailing all investigations, findings and conclusions.
    • Identifying and responding to changing, operational needs, demonstrating flexibility and ensuring the understanding of the requirements of the customer and the need for optimizing and fine tuning performance.
    • Provide Second level of escalation for equipment faults, assisting as required.
    • It is important that this role assumes overall technical expertise with the equipment, addressing and resolving the high level issues that arise out of performance testing, routine maintenance and live performance. The solutions obtained by means of detailed investigations will then be fed back to the maintenance team via the appropriate route ( maint mgr, tech supervisor, technician) with the appropriate recommendations for modification of the process or procedures.
    • All aspects of Spares management including tracking (CMMS), sourcing, purchasing, deliveries and invoicing.

    Salary: €20/hour (Overtime paid at 1.5x after 39 hours)
    Contract: Full-time, Permanent (6-month probation period)
    Shift Pattern: Rotating early starts – 4:00am – 1 pm and 7:00 am – 4 pm (Monday to Saturday operation)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform mechanical repairs across a broad range of equipment, including high-speed packing lines, automated systems, and various electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    • Deliver technical support for production lines and supporting processes to ensure optimal performance.
    • Carry out preventative maintenance activities, both scheduled and ad-hoc, to reduce breakdowns.
    • Set up and change over machinery for different product lines efficiently.
    • Minimise production downtime using your technical knowledge and available resources.
    • Collaborate with fellow maintenance team members in a hands-on, team-focused environment.
    • Contribute to general facility maintenance and site upkeep as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant mechanical trade qualification or mechanical fitter background.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot effectively.
    • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical schematic drawings.
    • Confident using multimeters and diagnosing basic electrical faults.
    • Comfortable working in an automated, manufacturing environment – ideally within the food sector.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks.
    • Strong communication skills with good spoken and written English.

    Working Hours & Benefits:

    • Rotational shifts: Week 1 – 7:00am start, Week 2 – 4:00am start (Monday to Saturday coverage).
    • Approx. 40–45 hours per week.
    • First 39 hours at standard rate; hours beyond 39 paid at overtime rate (1.5x).
