Project Manager – Customer Information Systems (CIS)

  • Location: Dublin
  • Salary: DOE

Role & Purpose:

  • Lead and deliver a programme of Customer Information System (CIS) projects within agreed timeframes, budgets, quality, and scope.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Station Customer Service Systems (SCSS): Implement Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), Public Address (PA) systems, Help Points (HP), CCTV, telecoms infrastructure (e.g., cabling), and associated civil/structural works at stations nationwide.
  • Customer Communications Centre (CCC): Develop a centralized communication facility within a National Control Centre, equipped with an Integrated Systems Management Platform (ISMP) to monitor and control station systems, enhancing the customer experience.
  • Deliver full project lifecycle management: inception, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and legislation.
  • Provide professional support to senior management and deputise when required.
  • Support the delivery of other projects within the wider capital investments programme as needed.

Reporting Relationships
Reports To:

  • Senior Project Manager, CIS, Railway Systems, Network Enhancements

Manages:

  • Assistant Project Managers

Works With:

  • Programme and Project Managers, Planners, Task Leaders, external consultants and contractors
  • External agencies (e.g., regulatory bodies, local authorities, funding authorities)
  • Internal departments across engineering, operations, IT, procurement, legal, property, and other support functions

Key Qualities
Essential:

  • Degree in Building, Engineering, Construction, or Project Management
  • Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., Engineers Ireland)
  • Minimum of 10 years' project engineering experience in a railway or regulated engineering environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing budgets and schedules on projects of similar scale

Desirable:

  • Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects in rail or infrastructure
  • Familiarity with railway operations and CIS systems
  • Knowledge of project procedures, contract management (e.g., Public Works Contracts), and Construction Regulations
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems

General Management Responsibilities
Safety:

  • Uphold all safety responsibilities as outlined in the Safety Responsibility Statement
  • Ensure project compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies
  • Conduct safety audits, reviews, and incident investigations where required

Engineering:

  • Ensure projects adhere to relevant standards and policies
  • Provide technical oversight across all phases

Business:

  • Manage the overall delivery of assigned projects
  • Maintain coordination with internal and external stakeholders

People:

  • Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Support and manage project team resources
  • Lead by example and foster a productive project environment

Specific Responsibilities
Engineering:

  • Oversee feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and handover
  • Ensure robust project control systems are in place and maintained

Safety:

  • Ensure design and construction adhere to safety standards and regulations
  • Facilitate safe design and execution throughout the lifecycle
  • Promote safety through regular reviews and workshops

People:

  • Manage and support project team members
  • Engage stakeholders throughout project delivery

Finance:

  • Manage project budgets and financial reporting
  • Ensure accurate financial authorisation and adherence to procurement policies
  • Contribute to performance and budget tracking reports
