General Operative with Driving Duties- 6 month temporary role.

Location: Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.
Working Hours: 39-hour week including weekends, evenings, early morning, and late nights.
Salary: €16.38 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport and stock fish.
  • Prepare hatchery trays, troughs, screens, etc., for hatching ova.
  • Conduct fish stripping annually.
  • Maintain hatchery equipment and facilities.
  • Perform minor maintenance of grading and pumping equipment.
  • Feed fry multiple times daily.
  • Prepare ponds for rearing larger fry, including feeding and grading.
  • Maintain ponds, water supply, and fish farm buildings.
  • Operate and maintain fish rearing cages.
  • Carry out semi-skilled work using hand tools and machinery.
  • Support IFI colleagues in implementing and enforcing fisheries legislation.
  • Provide improvement, development, conservation, and protection services.
  • Utilize mobile phones or radio communications for coordination of work.
  • Maintain work records, diary sheets, and vehicle transport registers.
  • Cooperate with the introduction of new technologies and work practices.
  • Participate in training and personal development programs provided by the company.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Junior Certificate or recognized equivalent (Level 3 Award NFQ).
  • Full driving license – Category C valid in the State.
  • Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
  • No convictions under Irish Fisheries Legislation.
  • Eligibility to work in the State.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
  • Good knowledge of computer skills including MS Office.
  • Reside within 60 minutes’ drive of assigned base location.
  • Competent in and on the water (both at sea and in lakes and rivers).
  • Demonstrates passion/strong interest in promoting, protecting, and conserving natural resources.

Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in a similar environment.
  • Ability to tow trailers.
  • Safe pass.
  • CSCS Card – Teleporter.
  • Experience working with power tools.
  • Knowledge of carpentry or general labouring.
  • Powerboat Level 2.
  • Kayaking Level 3.
  • Knowledge of fisheries legislation.
