Electrical Engineer

Our client are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to add to their growing Engineering team and become the driving force behind their MV/HV projects. You’ll be part of the design team for a range of multi-disciplinary Transmission & Distribution projects both domestically and internationally. You can expect variety and travel, visiting client sites to independently discuss, define and verify client requirements and reflecting the output in high quality proposals and reports.
 

  • Location: Clonmel
  • Salary: €55-80k DOE

The Role:

  • Your tasks will include developing electrical schematics, performing load calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • You will collaborate with project teams to deliver power distribution solutions, conduct testing and troubleshooting, and provide technical support for installation and commissioning.
  • Compile and issue electrical technical submittals.
  • Manage submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment and complete the receipt verification process once the equipment is delivered.
  • Attend & record regular supply chain meetings to ensure that progress is monitored & maintained within the overall construction programme.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, protective devices, and power quality analysis is essential. Experience with CAD software and power simulation tools is highly desirable.
  • Complete electrical system walk-downs to ensure systems are compliant with specifications and drawings.
  • Compile test pack, FTOP’s and O&Ms and present for approval.
  • Manage specialist vendors during the commissioning process to ensure timely completion of their works.
  • Undertake client training in line with agreed training plan.

Requirements:

  • 3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Experience with both MV and HV systems primarily in building services.
  • Previous record of delivering small to medium Electrical projects (Commercial, Industrial, pharma, data centre type projects)
  • Capability of walking down electrical systems to ensure compliance with specification
  • Experience developing technical submittals, completing technical reviews and assessments.
  • Is process driven and focuses on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes.

Ideally all candidates will have:

  • A formal relevant technical qualification to at least level 6 (Level 7 preferred)

  • Good communication skills essential.
  • Trouble shooting and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines and to a high standard.
  • Good working knowledge of current Safety legislation and European directives.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation.
  • Capability of working on own initiative and as part of maintenance team.

You will need to demonstrate that you are self-motivated and that you can work as an integral part of a dedicated maintenance team.
This position will require you to have a flexible approach within all aspects of the role and be willing to engage with a changing work environment and may involve shift and weekend work.

Duties:

  • Work closely with the service manager to ensure efficient service scheduling
  • Planning and reporting using the appropriate systems (SAP, Job Cards etc)
  • Flexibility in terms of availability to respond to customer needs
  • Close communication with customers to ensure satisfaction in the service process
  • Personal development in terms of specific training courses, travel to Germany

Qualifications:

  • Experience in compressed air systems would be an advantage
  • Good communication skills and empathy with customers with an ability to explain clearly and concisely and an ability to listen
  • 5 years of experience as a Field Service Technician
  • Full Driving License
  • Competency in problem solving – full training provided
  • Ability to work both on an individual and team basis

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve complex quality issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
