Signalling and Systems Lead

We here at Osborne have partnered with a major Irish company who are looking for a Signalling and Systems Lead to join their team to lead and manage the role from the front. We are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Signalling and Systems Lead.  This is an exciting opportunity that comes at a time when the organisation continues to develop and grow.  The successful candidate will report to the Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead and will have the responsibility to assist in the delivery of capital projects, act as a focus for safety, ensure all projects are properly organised and processed, to manage, control and coordinated projects, to ensure strong communication with all colleagues.
The role will be based in Dublin and the person should have a minimum of 5 years project engineering experience in engineering or similar multi-disciplinary engineering environment, a good understanding of major engineering discipline interfaces with strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Specific Responsibilities:

Engineering

  • Assist the Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead in the delivery of capital projects.
  • Assist the Programme Managers in the delivery of capital projects.
  • Responsibility in your area of control for the feasibility work, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover of projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with defined project management and control procedures.
  • Responsible for the ongoing implementation of appropriate project and contract control mechanisms and for their monitoring and reporting.
  • The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the signal engineering within company. 
  • Ensure that signalling design complies with company design process.
  • Ensure products specified in design have required Product Acceptance.
  • Ensure that signalling design meets agreed scope and signalling design specification.
  • Ensure that signalling design meets agreed implementation strategy & programme.
  • Liaise with Design to monitor their design compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Manage technical issues and their resolution between signalling designer and SET department.
  • Liaise with Signalling Designated Project Engineer and signalling designer, managing communication and technical requirements.
  • Liaise with external multidisciplinary consultants, such as respective Project Engineers.
  • Manage the Bill of Materials for signalling project and liaise with Procurement department.
  • Support design Interdisciplinary Checks and Reviews in line with company process, ensuring readiness between signalling designer and Designated Project Engineer.
  • Lead and participate in engineering meetings to deliver project to scope and programme.
  • Lead technical discussions and meetings
  • Notify Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead of all potential scope changes and comply with Change Control process for the project, updating the applicable register when required.
  • Manage and comply with company process for signal designs produced by third party, signal design contractor.
  • Assist Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead, to implement required engineering for project to programme and budget.
  • Assist Programme Managers to implement required engineering for project to programme and budget.
  • Implementation of company Standards.
  • Assist Designated Project Engineer and Design for any applications for temporary or permanent derogations to company Standards.
  • To provide signal engineering professional support to the project.
  • Produce progress and technical issues reports.
  • To deputise for Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead when required.
  • Support junior members of the team, including personnel in training, such as graduates or apprentices.


Safety

Finance

  • Undertake all activities in line with the company governing procurement policies and procedures.
  • Support the team in their preparation of reports for Programme Controls.

Working Relationship with:

  • External contractors, such as design and installation contractors.
  • External consultants, such as project multidisciplinary consultants.
  • Other company departments e.g. CCE, IMO, IM procurement, Group IT.
  • External Agencies as necessary.

General Management Responsibilities:

  • Safety: To act as a focus for safety in line with the relevant Safety Management System (Safety Management System) and to discharge your safety responsibilities as outlined by your reporting Manager and Safety Responsibility Statement (SRS).
  • Engineering: To ensure that all projects are properly authorized and progressed in accordance with the Building regulations and company policy, standards and procedures.
  • Business: To manage, coordinate and control all projects and related activities for your business.
  • People: To ensure constant communication with all colleagues within your area and to support the People Management policy within the team.

This is a Hybrid role to Waterford
You will be pivotal to the success of our XR projects, acting as a lead programmer/assembler, but also as an organiser and liaison with clients. We are looking for an outstanding communicator as well as a strong leader. This is someone who can explain important decisions to the team and clients alike.
Code written by the XR Developer will be created with maintainability and scalability in mind. It is important you have a strong attention to detail and love a good specification.
An experienced XR Developer will also work with junior level developers to help them develop their technical skills, answer programming questions, and help understand company operations.

Key duties
•             Deliver professional development projects within the structure of our unity development team, on time and to the highest standard of best practice.
•             Participate in the development of ideas and the process of pitching for new projects.
•             Liaise with clients in a professional way, aid in developing long – term relationships through effective communication.
