Temporary Finance Director (Part-Time)
The Opportunity
An established public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Director to join its senior leadership team on a temporary, part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic finance professional to play a key leadership role in overseeing financial operations, providing financial assurance to the Chief Executive Officer and Board, and contributing to the ongoing development of a high-performing organisation operating within the Irish healthcare sector.
This position offers exposure to a broad range of strategic and operational finance responsibilities, while working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strong governance, effective financial management, and continuous improvement across the finance function.
For You:
- Contract: 1 month (possibility to be extended)
- Location: Dublin 2
- Working Model: Fully Onsite
- Hours: 3 days per week, reducing to 2 days per week in line with business requirements (attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays is essential)
- Salary: €116,000 (pro rata)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation’s finance function.
- Manage all aspects of financial operations, ensuring robust financial governance, compliance, and reporting.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board by providing financial oversight, assurance, and strategic guidance.
- Contribute as a member of the senior management team, supporting organisational strategy and decision-making.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, management accounting, statutory reporting, cash flow management, taxation, and financial controls.
- Lead the development, review, and enhancement of financial systems, internal controls, and business processes.
- Manage financial projects and support organisational change initiatives where required.
- Oversee financial aspects of contractual and pricing arrangements relating to long-term residential care services.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A professional accountancy qualification with membership of a recognised accountancy body, or an equivalent finance qualification.
- A minimum of five years’ senior-level experience in financial management and/or management accounting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to influence and support executive decision-making.
- Strong financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and governance experience.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within demanding deadlines.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
- Strong organisational, leadership, and team management capabilities.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within the healthcare sector.
- Experience working within the public sector.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and public sector financial governance.
