Maintenance Manager

Location: Naas, Kildare
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Osborne Recruitment are delighted to be working on behalf of our leading food production client to recruit an experienced Maintenance Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineering professional to lead the maintenance function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all plant equipment and site facilities while leading and developing a high-performing maintenance team.

Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, you will play a key role in maximising plant performance, minimising downtime, and driving operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the site maintenance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve preventative and planned maintenance strategies.
  • Drive plant efficiencies by identifying and resolving recurring maintenance issues through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to minimise downtime and support the achievement of production schedules.
  • Manage and maintain the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (Flex).
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, implementing long-term engineering solutions.
  • Ensure the uninterrupted supply of all essential site services, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through Lean manufacturing principles and engineering best practices.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, departmental KPIs, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Oversee the purchase and control of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance equipment.
  • Manage the maintenance purchase order process, including creation, approval, and reconciliation.
  • Monitor and report utility consumption and costs, including electricity, gas, refrigeration, water, and steam.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
  • Ensure service contracts for critical plant and equipment are maintained and completed on schedule.
  • Manage external contractors, ensuring compliance with contractor management procedures, insurance requirements, and method statements.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure all statutory maintenance inspections, testing, calibration, and certification requirements are completed on time.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation and records.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety, environmental, food safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
  • Support internal and external audits, presenting maintenance documentation as required.
  • Ensure regular inspection and certification of firefighting equipment and fire hydrants.
  • Oversee Legionella prevention measures, including scheduled flushing of water systems.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a maintenance team within a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Recognised Electrical Qualification with strong industrial maintenance experience.
  • Proven experience managing both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to successfully deliver engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
  • Practical understanding of engineering principles and their application within a production environment.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing Lean methodologies.
  • Customer-focused, results-driven, and committed to delivering operational excellence.

Desirable

  • Experience with PLCs, automation, control systems, and industrial software.
  • Previous experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector would be highly advantageous.
