Maintenance Electrician

About the Role:
You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems across the site to minimise downtime and ensure compliance with Irish regulations. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and perform planned maintenance on plant equipment and control panels. Your work will have a direct impact on safety, efficiency, and the long-term reliability of critical assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults on plant equipment, motors, drives, and control panels to restore operation safely and efficiently.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and associated hardware in line with site standards and regulatory requirements.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to support accurate installation and fault-finding.
• Conduct testing and inspection of electrical systems using appropriate instruments to ensure compliance with relevant Irish regulatory standards.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical plant equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
• Safely operate, maintain, and adjust motors, variable speed drives, and control panels within established safety procedures.
• Apply lockout/tagout and other workplace safety procedures during maintenance activities to protect personnel and equipment.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify recurring issues and implement practical improvements to electrical systems.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Electrician in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar plant environment.
• Strong hands-on ability in electrical fault diagnosis and troubleshooting on complex machinery and control systems.
• Demonstrated competence in installation and maintenance of electrical wiring, fixtures, and associated equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical drawings, and documentation.
• Solid understanding of testing and inspection processes for electrical systems to meet regulatory standards.
• Practical experience in preventive and predictive maintenance of plant electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of Irish electrical regulations and safety standards, including safe systems of work.
• Confident use of electrical test instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, and continuity testers.

Desirable Skills:

• Basic understanding of PLCs and industrial control systems for fault-finding and minor adjustments.
• Experience working with variable speed drives, automation equipment, and modern control technologies.
• Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) for recording work and maintenance history.
• Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and energy efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Recognised electrical trade qualification (e.g. QQI/FETAC Electrical or equivalent).
• Valid Electrical Qualification / Electrician Apprenticeship completion.
• Additional training or certification in industrial electrical maintenance or automation (preferred).
• Evidence of up-to-date training in electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and workplace health and safety (preferred).
