Job Description

Legal Secretary / Legal Support

We at Osborne are hiring for seeking an organised and detail-focused Legal Secretary / Legal Support professional to provide day-to-day administrative and secretarial assistance to solicitors.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting conveyancing and probate files, ensuring documentation is prepared accurately, files are maintained to a high standard, and important deadlines and appointments are managed effectively.

This position would suit someone with previous legal secretarial experience who is confident working independently, managing competing priorities, and communicating professionally with clients and external parties.

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Produce, format, and proofread legal correspondence, forms, and other documentation relating to conveyancing and probate matters.
  • Complete audio typing and copy typing accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and organise client and case files, ensuring records and documentation are kept up to date.
  • Manage solicitors’ diaries, appointments, meetings, and important case-related dates.
  • Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and other relevant third parties to request, exchange, and clarify information.
  • Track deadlines, outstanding documents, and follow-up actions to help ensure files progress without unnecessary delays.
  • Assist with the general administration and daily operation of the legal practice.
  • Provide proactive support to solicitors and help ensure matters are progressed efficiently from initial instruction through to completion. 

Key Requirements:   

  • At least one year’s experience in a legal secretarial, legal administration, or legal support position.
  • Practical understanding of conveyancing and probate work.
  • Strong typing ability, including experience with audio and copy typing.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail when preparing and handling legal documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and priorities.
  • Professional and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Full, valid driving licence.
