Legal Accountant

We are recruiting for an experienced Legal Accountant to join a well-established professional services organisation in the. This is a sole-charge role offering significant autonomy and responsibility for the firm’s accounting function, financial reporting and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will experience within a legal or professional services environment, including familiarity with legal accounting and client money requirements.

Salary: 45-50k DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting function, including ledgers, journals, reconciliations and month-end close.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management and financial reports.
• Prepare statutory accounts in line with Irish GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Manage tax compliance and relevant Irish tax returns and filings.
• Coordinate year-end audit preparation and act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets and forecasts, providing financial analysis and commentary to senior management.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records.
• Ensure legal accounting and client money processes comply with relevant professional and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Proven experience across financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation.
• Strong knowledge of Irish tax and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience managing audits and regulatory compliance.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a broad range of responsibilities in a sole-charge environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
