Job Title: Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Cork

Salary: DOE

Osborne are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading organisation within the construction sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional with construction experience to provide practical advice and support across projects, helping managers and employees maintain the highest standards of workplace health and safety.

The successful candidate will work closely with operational and project management teams, supporting the implementation of safety systems, risk management processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical Health & Safety advice and guidance to managers, employees and project teams.
  • Support the effective implementation of the company’s Health & Safety Management System.
  • Work closely with managers and relevant personnel to identify safety responsibilities, training requirements and competency needs.
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of procedures relating to lifting operations, temporary works, site inductions, fire and emergency arrangements, permits and other project-specific safety requirements.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining Health & Safety committees.
  • Ensure risks to third parties, subcontractors and other contractors are identified, assessed and appropriately managed.
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of Health & Safety systems and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, guidance and industry best practice.
  • Liaise with relevant Health & Safety professionals, regulatory bodies and industry organisations where required.
  • Lead and support accident and incident investigations, identifying immediate and underlying causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare Health & Safety performance reports for management.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Directors, Operations Managers, Project Managers and site teams.
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across the organisation.
  • Support the business in maintaining high standards of Health & Safety across all projects and operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Relevant degree, diploma or recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ Health & Safety experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, regulations and best practices.
  • Practical experience with risk assessments and safety management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
