Executive Officer – Accounting & Finance Lead

Osborne Recruitment is delighted to partner with a well-established membership organisation in the recruitment of an Executive Officer – Accounting & Finance Lead. Reporting to the Administrative Officer, you will be responsible for all accounting activities, ensuring robust financial controls are maintained and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and support the accounting team.
  • Allocate work and monitor performance to ensure efficiency and accountability.
  • Identify training needs and support ongoing professional development.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
  • Produce financial reports and management information as required.
  • Analyse financial variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform and review bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records using the accruals basis.
  • Process payroll and reconcile payroll-related liabilities.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns within statutory deadlines.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Support the annual external audit process.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and record depreciation.
  • Account for pension valuation adjustments.
  • Liaise with external auditors and professional advisers.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and organisational policies.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records.
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts, financial analyses, and management reports.

Requirements:

  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
  • A minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a finance team.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Excellent IT skills, including Sage 50, Microsoft Dynamics, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
