Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Athlone & Cavan
Salary: DOE

Osborne Recruitment are seeking an experienced and hands-on Electrical / Automation Engineer to join our team supporting a leading medical device manufacturing facility in Athlone as well as sitework in Virginia, Co. Cavan. This is a varied role that combines production support with exciting project work, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work across manufacturing operations, onsite projects, and workshop-based activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical and automation support to a fast-paced medical device production environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, and automation issues quickly and effectively
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to production issues to minimise downtime
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades
  • Participate in project work including installation, commissioning, testing, and validation of equipment and systems
  • Carry out hands-on electrical and automation work both onsite and in the workshop
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong electrical background with excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or food & beverage
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, controls, and automation equipment
  • The ability to react quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Experience as either an Electrical Technician, Automation Technician, Maintenance Engineer, or Electrical / Automation Engineer
  • A willingness to split their time between production support and project-based engineering work
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A full driving licence is desirable
