Job Description

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Location: Arklow, Wicklow

Salary: DOE

Osborne Recruitment has partnered with our client, a leading organisation within the modular construction and structural steel sectors, in the appointment of a CSA Quantity Surveyor / Estimator. The successful candidate will join the commercial team and be responsible for the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for structural steelwork and architectural packages. The role will involve managing the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover, ensuring all estimates are commercially robust, accurate, and delivered within required timeframes. This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site in County Wicklow with site visits involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and undertake detailed quantity take-offs.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates incorporating labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor inputs.
  • Coordinate and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), technical clarifications, and tender correspondence.
  • Identify commercial risks, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities within tender submissions.
  • Liaise with internal departments, including Design, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure alignment throughout the tendering process.
  • Prepare comprehensive handover documentation for successful projects. Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or similar commercial role.
  • Previous experience working with structural steelwork and/or architectural packages is desirable.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing BOQs and undertaking quantity take-offs.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications. Desirable Experience
  • Experience within modular construction, industrial, or data centre projects.
  • Familiarity with industry software such as Bluebeam, CostX, and/or Navisworks.
  • Experience managing subcontractor and supplier pricing exercises and tender evaluations.
