Civil / Structural Resident Engineer 

Location: Dublin 2
Day Rate: €550 per day
Contract: Initial 6 months, with potential for a further 27–30 months
Start Date: September / October 2026

Osborne are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Civil / Structural Resident Engineer or Site Manager to oversee a major refurbishment and extension project involving a listed building for an Irish State Body in Dublin 2.

This is a site-based role, responsible for supervising the main contractor and specialist subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the design, specifications, programme and required health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Resident Engineer, supervising the main contractor and specialist subcontractors on site.
• Monitor and ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the approved design and specifications.
• Review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and coordinate their review with the client and design team.
• Monitor contractor compliance with health and safety requirements and approved RAMS.
• Review and evaluate contractor value engineering proposals, coordinating with the client and design team to reach agreed outcomes.
• Maintain accurate daily site diaries, including records of works, personnel, visitors, deliveries and removal of plant/materials.
• Attend regular site, client and design team meetings.
• Monitor site progress and raise any issues or concerns with the relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain effective working relationships with the main contractor, subcontractors, client, design team and neighbouring property owners/occupiers.
• Provide general site oversight and ensure works are progressing in line with project requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership of Engineers Ireland or UK equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
• Ideally 10+ years’ professional experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Strong experience in site-based construction and supervision of Civil/Structural works.
• Experience working with main contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, design compliance and site safety.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and contractor proposals.
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate site records and documentation.
