The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a growing organisation within the PPE and workwear industry. This field-based role is responsible for developing and expanding a portfolio of key accounts across Ireland, identifying new business opportunities, and driving sustainable revenue growth.
The successful candidate will have a proven background in PPE or workwear sales, a strong understanding of consultative selling, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives on developing new business while also growing existing accounts through strategic account management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major accounts across Ireland, building long-term customer relationships.
- Identify, research and secure new business opportunities through structured prospecting and targeted market engagement.
- Generate qualified sales opportunities independently, expanding the sales pipeline beyond existing CRM data.
- Manage opportunities throughout the full sales cycle, from initial contact through to quotation, tender submission and contract award.
- Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations, quotations and commercial proposals.
- Lead and contribute to tender submissions, including pricing, commercial documentation and bid responses.
- Work closely with senior management to support strategic business development initiatives and key commercial opportunities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, ensuring all customer interactions, opportunities and forecasts are updated regularly.
- Analyse customer requirements, market trends and product usage to identify opportunities for growth.
- Achieve agreed sales targets, pipeline objectives and revenue goals.
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers across a range of industries.
- Collaborate with internal sales, customer service and operations teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge across PPE, workwear and safety solutions while keeping up to date with industry developments.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ sales experience within the PPE, workwear or industrial safety products sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of PPE and workwear products.
- Proven success in business development, account management or consultative B2B sales.
- Experience preparing or contributing to tenders, bids and commercial proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and convert new business opportunities through self-generated prospecting.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage sales pipelines and customer activity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word and Teams.
- Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, results-driven and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Full clean driving licence.
