Job Description

A leading food production company based in West Cork, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Quality Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and quality of products and quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for managing the quality team and quality operations in the absence of the Quality Manager.
  • Support or lead and run internal, third-party, and regulatory audits independently if the Quality Manager is unavailable, ensuring the plant is audit-ready at all times.
  • Assist in the administration, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Manual, Quality System, and Food Safety Management/HACCP System.
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers on food quality, documentation, specifications, and the efficient resolution of queries or complaints.
  • Manage product specifications, document reviews and corrective action implementations.
  • Monitor on-site hygiene standards, microbiological testing tracking and calibration registers.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience supervising teams with the confidence to make critical decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills for liaising with stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
