R&D Project Manager
We are currently working with a Global veterinary dental leader who are looking to hire an R&D Project Manager and you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of the organisation’s product development programs, with specific oversight of dental unit and small equipment hardware projects and the ongoing development of the organisations Clarity dental software platform. This role serves as the central execution owner across all active R&D initiatives, translating product strategy into disciplined project delivery, coordinating cross-functional and cross-border teams, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring all development activities meet applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in regulated veterinary or dental device development, strong hardware and software project management experience, and the ability to work effectively across a globally distributed team. An understanding of the veterinary dental market or adjacent dental device space is highly valued. Commercial operations are supported globally, North America, regional partners across EMEA, APAC and ANZ.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own end-to-end project management for all active R&D programs including dental units, small equipment, and the Clarity software platform
Develop and maintain project plans, milestone schedules, resource allocations, and risk registers across concurrent development streams
Drive project execution through structured stage-gate processes from concept through design verification, validation, and commercial launch
Facilitate regular cross-functional project reviews
Partner with Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams
Identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks, technical blockers, and scope changes in a timely and structured manner
Coordinate the design and development lifecycle for the company’s dental unit and small equipment product lines, including new product introductions and product improvements
Partner with engineering leads to align development activities with Design History File (DHF) requirements and applicable design control obligations
Manage external suppliers, contract manufacturers, and development partners involved in hardware programs
Oversee prototype build and test cycles, design verification, and validation activities through production readiness
Ensure technical documentation is maintained to audit-ready standards throughout the development lifecycle
Lead project management for the Clarity veterinary dental software platform, coordinating development sprints, releases, and roadmap execution
Ensure software development activities comply with applicable regulatory and quality standards, including cybersecurity and data integrity requirements
Manage the relationship between internal and any external software development partners or vendors
Coordinate software verification and validation activities, including requirements traceability, testing protocols, and release documentation
Support integration of Clarity with internal hardware platforms and third-party veterinary practice management systems where applicable
Ensure all R&D programs are developed in compliance with applicable veterinary device regulatory requirements, quality management standards, and risk management frameworks
Maintain Design History Files, technical files, and project documentation to the standard required for applicable regulatory submissions and market approvals
Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Quality on design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and change control processes
Support regulatory body interactions, technical file reviews, and audit readiness across active development programs
Track and incorporate regulatory landscape changes relevant to veterinary dental devices in EU and key export markets
Serve as the primary point of contact for R&D project status across the organisation’s leadership, commercial teams, and stakeholders
Prepare and present project updates, roadmap reviews, and risk summaries to senior leadership on a regular cadence
Coordinate effectively across EU-based R&D teams and globally distributed commercial and operations partners including North America
Drive alignment between R&D priorities and commercial launch plans, ensuring market-ready timing for new product introductions
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
5+ years of project management experience in a regulated veterinary, dental, or adjacent MedTech environment
Demonstrated experience managing hardware product development from concept through commercialisation under applicable regulatory and quality frameworks
Experience managing software development programmes in a regulated or quality-managed environment
Strong working knowledge of design controls, risk management principles, and applicable market approval processes
Proven ability to manage concurrent, cross-functional programmes with distributed teams across multiple geographies
Excellent stakeholder communication, project documentation, and presentation skills
Proficiency in project management tools
Preferred
Experience in veterinary, dental (human or veterinary), or small capital medical equipment development
Working knowledge of veterinary practice workflows or dental clinical environments
Familiarity with software lifecycle management in a regulated or quality-managed environment
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies applied in a quality-managed hardware-software development context
PMP, Prince2, or equivalent project management certification
Multilingual capability — English required, additional EU language an asset
