Specification Technologist / Internal Auditor

Salary: €40,000 – €42,000 (DOE)
Location: Naas, Co. Kildare (Hybrid working)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00

We are recruiting for a Specification Technologist / Internal Auditor on behalf of our well-known clients, to join their technical team within the food manufacturing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with specification writing experience who is looking to further develop their career in quality and compliance.

The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Specification Technologist, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate product specifications and supporting internal audit activities to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Technical, NPD and Procurement, playing a key role in ensuring all products and materials meet both internal and external requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accurate product and raw material specifications
  • Ensure all materials and finished products meet quality, safety and regulatory standards
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and external requirements
  • Support external audits and ensure readiness for customer and regulatory inspections
  • Review and approve packaging artwork to ensure compliance with legislation and standards
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure raw material specifications are accurate and up to date
  • Participate in supplier audits and assessments
  • Maintain documentation related to specifications, quality and auditing activities
  • Support new product development by ensuring specifications are completed accurately and on-time
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across quality and food safety systems

Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Minimum 1+ years’ experience in a food manufacturing or technical role
  • Proven experience in specification writing (raw materials and/or finished products)
  • Experience working with suppliers and managing specification data
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, BRC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of food labelling and legislation (UK/Ireland)
  • Experience conducting internal audits is desirable
  • Familiarity with retailer specification systems (e.g. Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, M&S) is advantageous
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
