Finance Manager – Contractor

Our client based in Kildare are looking to hire a Finance Manager/Controller initially on a temporary/contracted basis to potentially go long term. This role will play a key part within the Leadership Team and will lead the finance team from strategic and operational perspective they will also be part of Board meetings. You will be managing a strong team 5 days a week in a fast-paced environment within a transport and logistics organisation. This position is a key leadership role and a position of trust and responsibility for overseeing the full financial reporting cycle, supporting strategic decision making.
  
 Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts including detailed financial reporting packs.

  • Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary to support operational and strategic reviews.

  • Ensure compliance and internal controls, accounting standards, and sector specific financial practices.

  • Preparation of Board packs including Financial, KPI and other business information required for these meetings.

  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget and maintain forecasts, working with operational Manger across the business.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow.

  • Oversee banking relationships.

  • Supervise the payroll process.

  • Document and improve the Credit Management Process

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of Revenue and CSO returns.

  • Lead the annual audit process and be the main point of contact with external auditors.

  • Maintain financial data compliance.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the team of finance professionals fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Set up formal procurement and supplier set up process to review key spending and supplier arrangement across the business.

  • Develop KPI’s relevant to transport and warehousing operations.

  • Leverage the reporting and functional capabilities of internal systems to drive business productivity and profitability in the company.

Key Requirements

  • Finance Degree in Accountancy, Finance – Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

  • 4+ years’ experience within a similar role.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, family-run business environment.

  • Experience on systems such a Xero
