Audit & Risk Manager

Here at Osborne, we are hiring for an Audit & Risk Manager, on behalf of one of our clients, based in Kildare. Reporting to the Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance, this role is hands-on, business-facing and heavily focused on risk management.
The Audit & Risk Manager will lead the coordination of internal audits, oversee enterprise risk management and manage insurance and governance activities across multiple entities. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure risk is understood, embedded and actively managed across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management

  • Own and continuously enhance the organisation’s operational Risk Management Framework, policies and processes
  • Embed risk management into day-to-day operational decision-making
  • Partner with senior leaders, department heads and risk owners to identify, assess and mitigate risks
  • Facilitate and lead risk workshops, training sessions and risk reviews across business units
  • Develop risk profiles, dashboards and reports for Senior Management, Board and Committees
  • Draft risk assessments and reports on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer
  • Provide expert, practical risk advice across the organisation
  • Leverage technology and BI tools to improve risk oversight and reporting

Internal Audit

  • Manage the end-to-end internal audit coordination process
  • Oversee audit planning, fieldwork coordination and reporting
  • Track and escalate audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation
  • Support operational teams through the audit process

Insurance

  • Manage the relationship with insurance brokers, including quarterly reviews and annual renewals
  • Oversee claims management and incident reporting
  • Drive improvements in incident and risk reporting culture

Governance, Reporting & Improvement

  • Coordinate production of the annual report in collaboration with finance and communications teams
  • Support the introduction and development of sustainability / ESG reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation and process enhancements
  • Ensure strong governance, controls, compliance and data integrity across the business

Leadership

  • Provide mentorship and leadership across governance, risk and audit activities
  • Act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5- 10+ years’ post-qualification experience, including at least 4 years in a risk-focused role within a commercial or commercial semi-state organisation
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate risk insights into practical actions
  • Excellent business acumen with a clear understanding of operational drivers and organisational priorities
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and drive performance through effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to deliver compliance while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience
  • A high level of professional integrity and confidentiality
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience leading systems improvements, process enhancements and developing robust reporting frameworks
  • Strong team-working skills with a clear internal customer focus
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • An interest in ESG and sustainability reporting standards is desirable
  • An interest in horse racing or sport is an advantage, but not essential
