We are recruiting for an Engineering Technician on behalf of a manufacturer based in Kildare. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Engineer or time-served Electrician with strong maintenance experience to play a key role in keeping a fast-paced manufacturing site running smoothly. You will be responsible for providing both reactive and planned maintenance across the site, supporting new installations, troubleshooting machinery and ensuring compliance with food safety and health & safety standards.
Provide planned and reactive maintenance support across the site.
Install, commission, troubleshoot and maintain plant equipment.
Carry out basic programming and diagnostics of plant machinery.
Troubleshoot using PLC programs.
Execute preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and maximise uptime.
Support technical needs for plant facilities, including compressed air and refrigeration systems.
Ensure compliance with cGMP, Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
Assist with risk assessments and ensure H&S training is delivered to the team.
Monitor and improve machine/line performance to increase efficiency.
Work closely with equipment suppliers on new installations and modifications.
Provide overtime, shift cover, phone support and callouts as required.
Oversee contractors working on site.
Support maintenance across process, HVAC, refrigeration and packaging equipment.
Analyse downtime levels and implement strategies to improve uptime.
Keep the Engineering Manager and area managers informed of significant developments.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
A relevant third level qualification in Engineering or time-served Electrician or fitter (Electrical/Mechanical Qualification / Mechanical Experience).
3+ years’ experience in a maintenance role (planned & reactive).
Working knowledge and practical experience of relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
Strong understanding of Food Safety policies and standards, including BRC and ISO.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a decisive and methodical approach.
Experience with a wide range of motor control systems, process temperature controls and pneumatic systems.
Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Strong knowledge of safety systems, including isolation/lock-off procedures, risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
A strong team player who can also work effectively on their own initiative.
