Reception Officer

As a Reception Officer you will report into the Centre Manager & support residents to identify and respond to their needs. You will work both inside the accommodation Centre along with Outside Agencies to ensure individual needs are met.

Salary and Benefits:

  • €45,000 – €50k (DOE)
  • Onsite Parking
  • Onsite Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm (Clondalkin)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To be the point of contact, and provide information for residents, staff and Management concerning special reception needs.
  • Assist with induction of new residents, integration to the centre and provide ongoing supports. 
  • The Reception Officer will establish good working relationships with relevant State providers, support organisations and statutory and non-statutory agencies locally, to assist residents to achieve their person-centred plans.
  • Under the direction of the Centre Manager, to provide supervision to other staff to ensure that they adequately identify, refer, and respond, as appropriate, to special reception needs of residents within the accommodation centre.
  • To provide information to the Centre Manager to support a resident who would be more suited to a centre that caters for “exceptionally vulnerable residents”.
  • To work with the Centre Manager to communicate with a resident any move to a more suitable accommodation in a timely manner.
  • To ensure that links are built and maintained with local healthcare providers, schools, legal service providers, family and child support agencies, trauma counselling and other specialist services, NGO’s and other civil society groups including religious organisations, where appropriate and in line with vulnerability assessments and the identified special needs of residents.  The Reception Officer will communicate effectively with the Designated Liaison Person and the Head of Compliance in this regard, where necessary.
  • Familiarise with the Health & Safety documents, support their implementation and liaise with residents on this.
  • The Reception Officer will read the Risk Management Policy, understand the processes, and report all identified risks on the Company Risk Assessment Form.  The Reception Officer may be asked to support residents with filling out and submitting complaints from time to time. 
  • As a Social Worker at level 7 or above and or equivalent, the Reception Officer will be a Mandated Person under Children First 2011, The Childrens First Act 2015 and to adhere to the Childrens First National Guidance 2017.
  • The Reception Officer will be expected to be well versed in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at the Risk of Abuse 2014 and will adapt a “No Tolerance”, approach
  • The Reception Officer in consultation with the Head of Compliance (Designated Officer) undertake the preliminary screening and the developing the individualised Safeguarding Plan.
  • The Reception Officer will be familiar with the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015.  They will refer residents for assessment under the Act when necessary and appropriate.
  • Reporting on all activities in relation to Special needs assessments and activities

Essential Requirements:

  • QQI Level 7 in social care or equivalent
  • It is essential for the Reception Officer to have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Social Worker or equivalent and it is desirable that at least 1 year of experience in working with International Protection Residents, working with an NGO in a country in conflict or any other experience where it would make you a suitable candidate for this post.  Descriptions of which must be specifically laid out and explained on your application for this post.
