Here at Osborne, our client is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer/Compliance Senior Manager to join their team. This role will suit a candidate who has experience in risk, public sector administration and compliance/corporate governance. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years solid experience in at least one of the following areas: data protection, corporate governance, risk management.
Provide advice on compliance with data protection legislation.
Develop and maintain organisational data protection policies.
Support the design and review of processes involving personal data.
Monitor data processing activities and overall data protection compliance.
Deliver staff training and raise awareness on data protection and related compliance areas.
Advise on and support data protection impact assessments.
Assist in responding to data breaches and preparing management reports.
Keep the organisation informed of relevant regulatory and legislative changes.
Act as a key point of contact for regulators and individuals exercising their data rights.
Respond to data subject requests and support the drafting of relevant contracts and agreements.
Contribute to wider governance, risk management, freedom of information, records management, and health and safety responsibilities.
Support compliance reporting to internal and external bodies.
Coordinate organisational compliance obligations and maintain related documentation.
Manage a small team, delegating tasks and overseeing work programmes.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
A relevant degree (or equivalent) and at least five years’ experience in data protection, governance, or risk management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
Proven experience in managing and developing staff.
Strong organisational, project management, research, IT, and report-writing skills.
Ability to make sound judgments in time-sensitive situations, with strong problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
Strong attention to detail and excellent planning skills.
