Mechanical QA/QC Engineer

Location: Arklow (Dublin based projects)

About the Role

Osborne are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanical QA/QC & Turnover Engineer to join their growing project delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with strong QA/QC, commissioning, completions or turnover experience to work on major engineering and construction projects across Dublin.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring mechanical installations are delivered to the required quality standards and that projects are successfully completed, documented and handed over to the client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures.
  • Inspect mechanical installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
  • Monitor workmanship quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review material certificates, test records and inspection documentation.
  • Conduct site quality inspections and audits.
  • Identify, record and manage non-conformances (NCRs) through to close-out.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project quality records.
  • Manage the mechanical turnover and handover process from construction through to project completion.
  • Coordinate the compilation of turnover packages, quality dossiers and handover documentation.
  • Track system completion and monitor readiness for testing and commissioning.
  • Develop and maintain turnover schedules and progress trackers.
  • Coordinate punch lists, snagging and close-out activities.
  • Support client inspections, walkdowns and final handover activities.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating testing and commissioning activities.
  • Review commissioning documentation and ensure records are complete and accurate.
  • Support the resolution of quality issues identified during testing and commissioning.
  • Prepare inspection reports, NCRs, punch lists and project close-out reports.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and wider project team.
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
  • Attend project and coordination meetings as required.
  • Support continuous improvement across project quality and delivery processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree, Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in mechanical engineering, QA/QC, turnover, completions or commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction processes.
  • Experience with QA/QC documentation, ITPs, inspections and NCR management.
  • Experience managing turnover packages, handover documentation and quality dossiers.
  • Good understanding of testing, commissioning and system completion processes.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organisational and document control skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working on pharmaceutical, data centre, industrial or large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience using electronic turnover, commissioning or completions management systems.
  • Familiarity with systemisation and project completions processes.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
