Osborne are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Heavy Machinery Mechanic to join a busy and well-established agricultural operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic to work with a diverse fleet of agricultural vehicles and heavy machinery, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standard while supporting efficient day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of machinery to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on agricultural vehicles, heavy machinery and fleet equipment.
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.
- Maintain tractors, forklifts, telehandlers, trailers and other plant machinery.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns to minimise operational disruption.
- Maintain accurate service, maintenance and repair records.
- Work closely with management to schedule preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
- Assist with welding and fabrication repairs where required.
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic, Agricultural Mechanic or Plant Mechanic.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience maintaining agricultural machinery.
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Mechanics, Agricultural Mechanics or a related discipline.
- Diesel fitting experience.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers or tractors.
- Relevant apprenticeship or recognised mechanical qualification.
