Job Title: Financial Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation in Waterford. This is a varied, hands-on role within a busy finance team, offering exposure to a wide range of accounting and financial processes. The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller and work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and efficient day-to-day finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and post transactions to the general ledger
  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and support period-end close activities
  • Maintain and update fixed asset and depreciation records
  • Prepare and post payroll and related journals
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management and financial reports
  • Support the preparation of year-end audit documentation
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
  • Process purchase-to-pay documentation and support supplier payments
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to support budget and cost management
  • Provide cover across payroll and finance systems when required
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Assist with finance process improvements and system efficiencies
  • Provide general finance and administrative support as require

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts environment
  • Accounting qualification, or currently working towards one
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines in a busy environment
