Accounts Assistant

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional seeking a dynamic opportunity to contribute to a busy finance team? We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our client on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The Accounts Assistant will provide accurate, timely financial information to the CFO and management, ensuring the smooth operation of critical financial processes.

For You:

  • Contract Type: 6-Month FTC
  • Location: Dublin 2
  • Salary: €45,000 pro rata

Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant:

  • Maintain the General Ledger module within the Progress Banking Application.
  • Prepare and update monthly reconciliation templates.
  • Complete reconciliations for all bank accounts, payroll accounts, and control balances.
  • Update and reconcile the Register of Investments to bank statements and the General Ledger.
  • Perform monthly interest and bond amortization calculations.
  • Process and review journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Prepare draft management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly Liquidity Reports, weekly ISBAR reports, and quarterly Prudential returns for review.
  • Assist the CFO with budget preparation, forecasting, and year-end audit files.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, including AML policy.
  • Process and pay purchase invoices, preparing analysis of budget variances.
  • Monitor and ensure adequate funding of clearing accounts.
  • Maintain appropriate call account levels and prepare short-term cash forecasts.
  • Assist in developing the reporting functions of core systems.
  • Carry out internal control tests, including bank reconciliations and cash float accuracy checks.
  • Prepare daily liquidity reports and manage petty cash.
  • Provide additional support to the CFO as needed.

The Accounts Assistant will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, or a recognized accountancy qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with financial systems, particularly Progress Banking Application or similar.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
