Cost Accountant

We are seeking a commercially minded and analytically driven Cost Accountant to join our client, based in Cavan. You will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, improving operational visibility and enhancing decision-making across the organisation.

Location: Onsite – 5 days per week
Salary: €47,000 – €50,000 DOE
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and KPI reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Perform detailed cost and material analysis, identifying cost drivers, allocation methods and optimisation opportunities.

  • Monitor and report on manufacturing costs, margins and variances, providing clear insight to operational and commercial stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure integrity of transactional data to support strong financial governance and decision-making.

  • Participate in business transformation and financial control projects that enhance profitability, efficiency and reporting quality.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain and engineering within a multicultural environment.

  • Perform reconciliations across sales, margin and balance sheet accounts to ensure robust financial reporting.

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

  • Contribute to forecasting, budgeting and scenario planning using both quantitative data and business insight.

  • Support the development and improvement of finance processes, systems and reporting tools.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).

  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience preferred.

  • Manufacturing experience advantageous; strong curiosity and willingness to learn the sector essential.

  • ERP systems experience required (SAP highly desirable).

  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data.
