Accountant

Our client a leading organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Cork-based team. This position plays a pivotal role within the finance function, acting as a key business partner to the leasing and sales teams while ensuring strong financial governance, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency.

Salary: €60,000 – €65,000 per annum plus benefits 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all finance-related queries within the leasing division.
  • Liaise with banks and funding partners for the setup, drawdown, and settlement of funding arrangements based on stock requirements.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts to Trial Balance, including reconciliations and variance analysis against budget.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts, liaising with auditors and managing related queries.
  • Oversee cash flow reporting, debtor and creditor listings, and regular review of vehicle stock and fixed asset registers.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support business planning, forecasting, and performance improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance financial controls, documentation, and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit PAYE, VAT, and CSO returns in line with regulatory deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CPA) with at least 3 years’ experience in general accounting or financial management.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively across departments.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
