Osborne Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading construction firm based in Pittsburgh for over 35+ years as they search for a talented Industrial Estimator to join their team! The successful candidate will assist in the development of competitive proposals based on accurate cost estimates including general conditions, self-performed work, and subcontracted work under the supervision of either a Lead Estimator or Preconstruction Manager. They will also be instrumental in developing complete proposals on small and trade-specific projects as well as assist in the development of entry-level estimators and learn from Senior Estimators, Lead Estimators and Preconstruction Managers.
Responsibilities: Develop Accurate Estimates
Ensure that all estimates are based on accurate general conditions, self-performed, and subcontracted work.
Work with project management and supervision to visit project sites, understand project cost & productivity reports, and discuss lessons learned.
Accurately quantify scopes of work using instruments, spreadsheets, and software.
Accurately price self-performed work based on wage rates, productivity, equipment rentals, and material costs.
Assist in the development of General Conditions and assess all risk factors: geotechnical conditions, specifications, constructability, schedule, and contract languag
Collaborate and actively coordinate with team members to develop detailed scopes of work that eliminate potential scope or pricing errors.
Understand and Communicate the Scope of Work
Communicate with the client, internal-bid team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to gain a working understanding of RFPs, drawings, specifications, and RFIs.
Accurately communicate project scope to suppliers and subcontractors using bid invitations, e-mails, phone calls, in-person meetings, scope review spreadsheets, and bid packages, to obtain accurate pricing for defined scopes.
Develop Competitive Proposals
Develop and lead competitive proposals using various deliverable systems such as client bid forms, preconstruction summaries, general summaries, inclusions-exclusions qualifications, proposed schedules, execution plans, and our scope of work.
Hand-off a budget to the project team that supports the goal of achieving our five metrics: Safety, Quality, Schedule, Profitability, and Customer Satisfaction.
Qualifications:
5+ years as an estimator across a variety of construction projects from small to medium projects to large scale city infrastructure.
Experience in mid to large firms and with an understanding of Bluebeam, Procore, HCSS and Carlson.
Onsite position with travel within region if required.
