Transport Planner

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our clients dynamic operations team. This key role will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of transport activities for specific client accounts and/or regions.

You will be working closely with team members across planning, administration, and driver operations, the Transport Planner will play a central part in ensuring service delivery, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the logistics function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily transport schedules for assigned customers and/or geographical areas.
  • Optimize routing for vehicles and resources to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other planners to manage shared assets and regional coordination.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and support staff, ensuring accurate job instructions.
  • Monitor and balance driver workloads and working hours throughout the week.
  • Support administrative staff in ensuring timely and accurate reporting, documentation, and customer updates.
  • Contribute to planning-related audits, compliance requirements, and performance reporting.
  • Support the coordination of leave planning to maintain staffing levels.
  • Identify and escalate operational issues or potential service risks as needed.
  • Contribute to ongoing performance monitoring and improvements within the team.
  • Participate in regular operational meetings and provide input for service enhancements.
  • Participate in a shared out-of-hours support rota.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Transport & Logistics or relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a transport planning or logistics coordination position.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
  • Confident using transport systems and Microsoft Office tools.
