Shipping Manager

Our client is a leading global designer and manufacturer of ergonomic products that improve health and comfort at work. We are supporting them in their search for a Shipping Manager to join their dynamic and growing team. In this role, you will lead the shipping team, responsible for all outbound shipping, customs compliance and operational effectiveness for the companies International base. The successful candidate will take the lead in supplying operational and technical expertise to increase the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the department. They will determine and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with Operations, Production Scheduling, Customer Service, Supply Chain and Sales. They will also play a vital role in ensuring full legal compliance within governmental customs rules and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in shipping and be confident and knowledgeable dealing with international stakeholders. Flexibility will be essential in this position as there will be communication with international countries and time zones will differ.
This permanent full time position will be located in Dublin 11.
  
Salary & Benefits:

  • €80,000 – €90,000
  • Hybrid model (1 or 2 days from home)
  • Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 5, Friday 8.30 – 4.30
  • Performance based bonus up to €10K
  • VHI for Self
  • Pension 5% matched
  • 25 days AL

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day management, coaching and development of the Shipping Team
  • Oversee the creation of appropriate outbound shipping schedules
  • Providing timely and accurate communication of all shipping plans and schedules to all key stakeholders
  • Leading the department in establishing, reviewing, documenting, and implementing or updating processes as needed.
  • Creating and developing key commercial relationships with transportation partners
  • Oversee all shipping quoting activities and the provision of cost pricing to customers and channel partners
  • Responsible for day-to-day operational oversight of all outbound activities
  • Responsible for all areas of regulatory export compliance as applicable
  • Ensure identification of most cost effective and efficient shipping solutions for the organization
  • Plan, develop and execute shipping strategy
  • Work with other business units to support growth agenda
  • Develop transport strategies that take into consideration climate change and sustainability goals

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in international shipping
  • Fully conversant with all aspects of domestic and international shipping to include haulage, air and ocean freight
  • Expert working knowledge of and extensive experience working with International Export documentation requirements
  • Experience of continuous improvement solutions is desired
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of operating in EU, UK, Eastern European, Middle East, Asia and African export markets
  • Proven track record of managing and developing high performing international shipping teams
  • Ability to lead the creation of data driven key performance indicator metrics and take appropriate action to drive and sustain service level targets
  • Proven experience of identifying and implementing cost effective, efficient shipping solutions for organisations
  • Strong focus on compliance
  • Strong focus on business improvements and financial management
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to work closely/in partnership with other key stakeholders in the achievement of business objectives
