Refrigeration Service Engineer

We are currently working with our client a provider of cold storage units who are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Service Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis covering the Munster region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance and repairs on mobile cold storage units at customer sites across the Munster region, with the potential to travel outside the region as required.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to in coordination with the Service Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team or Account Managers on site visits as necessary.
  • Manage refrigeration parts, including ordering replenishment stock and maintaining van stock.
  • Plan and schedule work with customers to ensure maximum satisfaction and minimal disruption to their operations.
  • Maintain and calibrate tools and test equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while on site, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Prepare and submit documentation and reports, including repair status, safety logs, and other necessary information for customer follow-up and internal tracking.
  • Complete all Health and Safety paperwork, including risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work Plans (SSWP), training records, equipment records, and certifications.
  • Conduct site inductions if required by the client and ensure that safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer service logs and internal service records.
  • Submit job cards with parts and labour details promptly, ensuring all paperwork is completed to the required standards.
  • Ensure all necessary tools, equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are available before visiting a site.
  • Report any issues or concerns noted during site visits to the EHS Lead.
  • Report non-compliance issues within the department to the Quality Manager.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Time-served four-year apprenticeship and a National Craft Certificate in Refrigeration or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with mobile cold storage systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair technical issues.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage your own schedule while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with Health and Safety regulations and the ability to conduct risk assessments and maintain safety standards.
  • Knowledge of stock management and ordering procedures.
  • Proficient in completing administrative tasks, including maintaining service logs, submitting reports, and updating service systems.
