Osborne Executive Search is delighted to be partnering with a leading industrial manufacturer to recruit an experienced EHS and Compliance Manager for their Irish site. This critical role is responsible for managing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and leading initiatives that support corporate social responsibility (CSR) and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to: General Manager & Operations Manager
EHS Leadership: Act as the company's appointed 'competent person' for EHS, driving a culture of safety excellence and ‘zero harm’ in the workplace. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, including ISO certifications (14001 and 45001), and promote continuous improvement in EHS practices.
Risk Management & Compliance: Oversee the preparation and communication of risk assessments, ensuring timely reviews and the closure of actions. Provide expert advice on compliance with legislative changes, liaise with the HSA, and lead incident investigations.
Safety Culture: Conduct regular Gemba walks, monitor EHS practices on-site, and chair safety committee meetings. Maintain and update the Safety Statement and related risk assessments, ensuring appropriate safety equipment and training are in place for all employees.
Project Leadership: Lead EHS activities for operational upgrades, support the acquisition of new equipment, and drive digitalisation efforts within EHS responsibilities.
CSR & Wellbeing: Coordinate CSR initiatives and employee wellness programs, including mental health support, in alignment with the company’s vision. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote sustainability, drive waste reduction, and foster a reduce, reuse, recycle ethos.
ISO Certification: Manage and maintain ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, supporting ISO 9001 compliance. Co-ordinate annual audits and implement improvements where necessary.
Contractor Management: Ensure contractor compliance with EHS policies before commencing work on-site, managing safety documentation and permits.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
Formal EHS qualifications with a passion for staying updated on industry trends and legislation.
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, ideally in ISO-certified organisations (14001, 45001, 9001).
Internal auditor certification for ISO 14001 and 45001 is required (9001 is desired).
Additional certifications in manual handling, first aid, mental health first aid, and energy management are advantageous but can be undertaken later.
Strong project management, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with proven experience driving results in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead change.
Technical (engineering or trades) background is a plus.
