Financial Accounts Assistant

Here at Osborne, we are hiring for a Financial Accounts Assistant for a dynamic and growing construction/manufacturing company in Kildare. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department by performing various accounting and clerical tasks.  If you are a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Accounts Assistant, apply toady!

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Processing: Accurately record daily financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Accounts Payable: Process supplier invoices, prepare payment runs, and resolve any discrepancies with vendors.
  • Accounts Receivable: Assist in managing customer invoices, follow up on outstanding payments, and reconcile accounts.
  • Credit Control: Assist in credit control.
  • ROS Returns: Submit monthly ROS returns, including PAYE, VAT, RCT, Interstats, and Vies.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with ledger entries to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Expense Management: Process employee expense claims, ensure compliance with company policies, and maintain expense records.
  • Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial/ month-end reports.
  • Payroll: Cover payroll duties during staff absences.
  • Data Entry: Maintain and update financial records in the accounting software e.g. Sage.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with general administrative tasks within the finance department and provide support to senior accountants.
  • Audit Preparation: Help gather documents and information required for internal and external audits.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Qualified accounting technician or similar.
  • Experience: 5+ years previous experience in an accounts assistant role is required, preferably within the construction/manufacturing industry, but not essential.
  • Numerical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software e.g. Sage.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
