Financial Accountant Opportunity in Dublin 1

Osborne Recruitment is excited to present a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Financial Accountant to join a renowned national charity.

This role, based in Dublin 1, is crucial in supporting the organization's charitable mission.

About the Role: Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant will be part of a team of six, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance department.

This role involves a variety of financial management tasks including preparing financial reports, managing cash flow, overseeing capital projects, and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Professional accountancy qualification and membership in a recognized accountancy body.
  • Ideally two years of satisfactory experience in financial or management accounting.
  • Experience in managing and building a collaborative finance team is desirable.
  • Strong ability to build, manage, and develop key stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in presenting to management.
  • Excellent budgeting, reporting, analytical, and IT skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and implement equal opportunities in daily practice.
  • Commitment to health and safety responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the finance department as directed by the Director of Finance.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including variance analysis against budgets.
  • Manage debtors and creditors, including associated reporting.
  • Manage and report on cash flow for both revenue and capital budgets.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and assist in the planning and preparation of annual budgets.
  • Monitor and manage expenditures related to service level agreements (SLAs) with other agencies.
  • Oversee financial aspects of capital projects, including RCT and VAT.
  • Prepare annual accounts using SORP accounting standards for charities.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s internal financial controls.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with financial returns and management accounts for cost centers and funding agencies.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) as required.
  • Promote and implement best practices related to value for money (VFM), procurement, risk management, and overall efficiency.

Team Management:

  • Manage the onboarding process for new team members and conduct regular one-on-one meetings.
  • Provide guidance, support, and clear goals to team members.
  • Offer regular feedback and coaching to help team members develop in their roles.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or issues within the team.
  • Update the line manager on any employee relations issues.
  • Implement strategies to improve team performance and productivity.
  • Ensure team members have access to training and development opportunities.
  • Conduct interim and final probationary reviews, as well as performance reviews for existing staff.
  • Ensure accurate recording of shifts and leave through the time management system.
