Director of Operations

Osborne Executive Search is delighted to be working with our client, a leader in the industrial gas industry across  UK and Ireland, in seeking a Director of Operations to join their Dublin based team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Transport Management, Supply Chain, Production Management and SHEQ.

The Job:

  • In this role, you will be managing the entire product Supply Chain team (production & Transport) across the jurisdictions of the Republic of Ireland (IRL) as well as Northern Ireland (UK)
  • Providing strong leadership in all aspects of health and safety, regulatory and company standards which is underpinned by setting strategic vision & goals to deliver a sustainable SHEQ culture
  • As a key member of the Ireland Senior Leadership team (SLT) you will be working closely and cooperating with other business heads inside and outside the RBU
  • You will be identifying and implementing continuous improvement & best practices using constructive thinking and a significant degree of evaluative judgement
  • In addition the role is a key advocate in managing industrial relations due to the high share of unionised employees, effectively managing and influencing employee relations and the relevant collective agreements across Ireland and leading Trade Union negotiations
  • You will be sponsoring and leading major change initiatives within the business
  • Moreover, this role is responsible for the following principal activities: Supply Chain (Transport/Distribution), Production, Fleet Engineering, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement, Compliance and SHEQ

The Ideal Candidate:
 

  • You are a professional Mechanical or Chemical Engineer (at degree level, chartered preferred) and MBA qualification preferred
  • In addition, you have extensive experience in operations management, SHEQ compliance and supply chain planning
  • Broad commercial & sales awareness and experience
  • You have previous experience in unionized environments
  • Experience of developing and implementing national/regional strategy and experience in preparing and managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets including P&L analysis
  • Furthermore, you have experience in building, developing, motivating and leading a multi skill team
  • In-depth understanding of legal responsibilities for the business (H&S, COSHH, COMAH, WSE, PTW, Legionella, ADR etc)
  • You work with integrity, aligned to the values of being an inclusive workplace
