Financial Accountant (Not-For-Profit Sector)

€60,000- €80,000 DOE

We are currently recruiting for a financial accountant on behalf of our client in the not for profit sector. This role will ideally suit a professional with 10+ years’ experience in a similar role or a more junior Qualified Accountant for has worked in the not for profit sector.

Role responsibilities:

  •  Financial control
  • Quarterly Accounts
  • Budgeting
  • Compliance with Society and Province Policies
  • Strong internal controls and risk management
  • Financial planning
  • Cash flow management
  • Compliance with taxation legislation
  • Trusted advisor to Community Superiors
  • Prepare Trust Financial Statements for audit
  • Quality and insightful reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations (Charities Act 2009) and adhering to financial reporting standards and governance applicable to the charitable sector.
  • Oversight of the finances and governance of Province works
  • Oversight of the finances and governance of Jesuit Schools
  • Payroll Administration
  • Oversight of Province Insurances and VHI
  • Working with Province Solicitor on Legal matters
  • Working with professional advisors on Property matters
  • Oversight of Capital Projects
  • Participation in Province Boards and Committees
  • Participation in and management of projects
  • Engagement with other stakeholders of the Society

Person Specification:

  • A professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA)
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a finance role.
  • An interest in working in an environment where there is a requirement to understand deeply the structure, the ethos and operational environment of a faith-based organisation.
  • Experience of charity/not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of MS Office suite packages and an ability to use and develop accounting software tools and systems.
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Good communication skills
