Senior Manager Indirect Tax, Dublin

As Senior Manager for Indirect Tax  you will have an opportunity to hold a leadership role with a significant global  Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, generic and medical device organisation at their Global Finance Center, gaining comprehensive experience across a wide range of Indirect tax opportunities.
You will play a key role in driving tax efficient business decisions, working closely with key stakeholders in the business, including Commercial teams, Group Finance as well as the wider Tax Team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Indirect Tax Strategy including assessing compliance processes, considering relevant tools/automation and identifying impact of new indirect taxes (e.g. carbon taxes; plastic tax)
  • Manage European VAT, ESG, Packaging and other indirect related tax compliance, including returns/payments and general reporting
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, on new global legislations or applicable thresholds
  • Drive best practice for Indirect Tax processes across the Group
  • Identifying and remediate VAT risks and opportunities including advising the business on the indirect tax implications of the same
  • Provide leadership in management of Indirect tax audits, both internal and external
  • Provide indirect tax support and advice to the business including customer invoice and taxability support, customer and vendor contract review, withholding tax certification, customer exemption certificate advice, and ERP support
  • Project lead with IT & various stakeholders on maintenance & governance of product master data for tax purposes
  • Support the review and process of tax journal entries prepared by accounting team, as well as, tax balance sheet account reconciliations for applicable accounts and ensure accounts are reconciled timely and reconciling items are resolved timely
  • Manage relationships with outside consultants
  • Maintain Indirect tax compliance tracker showing status of tax returns and payments across the company
  • Support the implementation of local tax planning opportunities (tax incentives etc.) where needed
  • Drive operational excellence across core activities and provide operational insight, including implementation of process efficiency and technology initiatives 

People:

  • Lead and mentor a small team to develop our Indirect expertise 
  • Focus on talent development
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Professional Tax/Accountancy Qualification
  • Minimum 8+ years of PQE indirect tax experience
  • Multinational tax experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Big 4 experience an advantage
  • Experience with tax audits an advantage

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
