Administrator – Grade 4 – Dublin 2

The Commissioning Team works to arrange patient hospital treatments for those on hospital waiting lists in Public and Private Hospitals.
The principal role of the Grade IV support staff will be to assist the commissioning team to contact patients by telephone who have refused an offer of treatment in a private hospital.

Commissioning Grade IV Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The main function of the role will be to contact patients by phone to arrange hospital appointments
  • Arrange call backs when necessary
  • Updating databases to reflect patient status
  • Updating transport requirement log
  • Meet weekly call targets (approx. 25-30 calls per day)
  • Participate in several days training
  • To maintain confidentiality in relation to patient data
  • Compliance with operational policies and procedures
  • Any other role of responsibility which may be assigned.

Requirements:
The competencies required for this position are:

  • Handle all telephone and email inquiries in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Handle all patient needs with professionalism and integrity.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Competent computer skills and excellent phone handling skills.
  • Management and delivery of results
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to attend office on Monday to Friday

The following are desirable requirements of the position:

  • Experience of working in a patient related / medical / health insurance environment or a good working knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
  • Candidates must demonstrate their oral and aural proficiency of English, to a level that enables them to do the job effectively, for example, to understand instructions or communicate clearly with patients many of whom may be elderly.
  • It would also be desirable if at least one of the Candidates was proficient in Irish as it is possible some patients may be from rural Irish speaking areas.
  • Experience of working in public sector administration.
