Logistics Planner & Router – North Dublin – Permanent basis – €45,000 DOE
We are currently working closely with our client who are a distributor on recruiting for a Logistic planner & router.

Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple delivery schedules, maintain accurate records, and handle complex logistics processes.
  • The ability to identify patterns and derive insights to optimise route planning and inventory management.
  • A meticulous approach to ensure accurate data input and route planning, minimising errors in delivery schedules and inventory management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with drivers, dispatchers, customers, and other stakeholders to relay critical information and manage expectations.
  • The ability to work under time constraints, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines to ensure on- time deliveries.
  • Flexible and adaptable to handle unexpected changes, such as traffic disruptions or delivery delays, and quickly adjust route plans accordingly.
  • A drive to deliver exceptional customer experience by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.

Primary Responsibilities
Route Planning

  • Analyse shipment data and customer orders to determine the most efficient delivery routes.
  • Optimise routes to minimise distance, time, and fuel consumption while maximising delivery capacity.
  • Consider factors such as traffic patterns, road conditions, and delivery time windows.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and risks in route planning and take preventive measures to avoid disruptions.

Load Optimisation

  • Determine the optimal load distribution for each vehicle to maximise space utilisation and minimise the number of trips.
  • Balance the weight and volume of goods for safe and efficient transportation.

Vehicle Assignment

  • Assign appropriate vehicles based on load requirements, vehicle capacities, and route characteristics.
  • Ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and compliant with regulations.
  • Address Verification and Validation
  • Verify and validate customer addresses to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Update and maintain a database of accurate delivery locations.

Time Slot Management

  • Allocate time slots for each delivery based on customer preferences and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules to avoid conflicts and delays.
  • Real-Time Tracking and Monitoring
  • Monitor delivery progress in real-time using GPS tracking systems.
  • Address any unforeseen issues, such as traffic congestion or vehicle breakdowns, to minimise disruptions.

Customer Communication

  • Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any changes to their orders.
  • Provide proactive updates on delivery status to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Analyse historical data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement in routing efficiency.
  • Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of routing strategies.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders
  • Collaborate with various teams, including dispatchers, drivers, and customer service, to ensure smooth execution of the routing plan.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to align route planning with customer needs and preferences.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and awareness of transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines to ensure compliance in logistics operations.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset – Eager to seek feedback, learn from experiences, and continuously improve route planning processes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the financial implications of logistics decisions to contribute to the company's overall profitability.
  • The ability to identify and address logistical challenges and find creative solutions to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Familiarity with geographical locations, road networks, and traffic patterns to create optimal delivery routes and minimise transit times.
  • Experience using route planning software, telemetric systems, GPS tracking, and other logistics-related technologies.
  • An understanding of sustainable practices and a commitment to integrating environmentally responsible solutions in logistics routing. Negotiation Skills – The ability to negotiate with suppliers and transportation partners to secure favourable terms and cost-effective solutions.
