Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HS&E Manager to join their dynamic team in the manufacturing sector, with their headquarters based in Waterford City. This senior role will report directly to the Senior Plant Manager and to the Regional HSE Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure effective integration and continual improvement of HSEMS and international standards
Establish structure and responsibilities for HSEMS implementation
Develop plans to address gaps and enhance system maturity
Define accountabilities and resource needs for HSEMS administration
Integrate HSEMS roles and responsibilities into the business
Assess and monitor the supporting structure and responsibility for HSEMS
Establish key roles and expectations for HSEMS execution
Assure individuals assigned HSE responsibilities have necessary authority and resources
Determine criteria and methods for effective operation and control of the HSEMS
Incorporate measurable HSEMS goals and objectives into the performance management process
Conduct AOP Reviews to define specific strategic initiatives and metrics
Report HSE performance and critical objectives to top management
Develop and implement a documented HSE Behaviour and Culture Procedure
Enforce HSEMS compliance for all employees, contractors, and visitors
Communicate company policies to all personnel and interested parties
Maintain records demonstrating conformance to HSE requirements
Ensure environmental compliance and report to the Environmental Protection Agency
Plan energy management activities in alignment with the organization's energy policy
Implement systems for effective communication of HSE messages
Oversee facilities management responsibilities through the Facilities Manager role
Requirements:
Degree in Health & Safety with a Certificate in Environmental Science or Safety
Minimum of five years relevant experience in fast-paced manufacturing, preferably in a multinational organization
Strong knowledge of Irish H&S and Environmental Legislation
Commitment to safety-first culture and continuous improvement
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
Proficient in data analysis, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
Results-oriented with proactive and efficient work approach
Ability to handle pressure, complexity, and changing priorities
Strong problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office.
