The Facility Engineer (FE) provides technical, (preventative) maintenance, repairs, installation, and customer service support. Working focus is on efficiency and optimization. Ensuring all environmental conditions are always maintained regarding critical building systems. Engineers must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of Air conditioning, UPS, Generators, LV systems, which will include the ability to fault find using the production of graphical information and the utilisation of current alarm data Overall Responsibilities
Primary focus during business hours is on Facilities Engineer responsibilities
Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge on all processes and procedures related to facilities including but not limited to cooling systems, access controls, fire suppression systems etc.
Maintain a working understanding of EPOs and escalation procedures to ensure effective First Line Facility support
Ensure Operational Consistency and alignment with Group Standards as required
Execute maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment in order to minimize downtime
Day-to-day surveillance of building and equipment and reports all building and customer defects to the relevant superior.
Monitor and direct repairs and maintenance executed by subcontractors and document the results
Monitor equipment to ensure adherence to agreed SLA and pro-actively indicate if SLAs are under pressure
Participate in any Infrastructural projects that require Facility Engineering expertise
Perform Quality Checks related to the facilities e.g., check relevant documentation and test reports & follow up tickets etc
Assist and advise Service Design in design of deployments and expansions relating to impact on facilities when required
On-Call & Shift Responsibilities:
Participate in the full continuous call-out team responsibilities and roster
Represent the local Customer Services & Facilities team during out of business hours and act as first line and second line support with respect to responses on alarms
Future organisational needs may require the engineer to work in shift patterns to enable the 24×7 datacenter operations
General Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an understanding of all Health & Safety rules and regulations ensuring adherence
Maximise efficiency of Operations by utilising all available systems and technologies
Be an active participant and make observations & suggestions towards the improvement of the data centre effectiveness and efficiency
Take instruction as required and guide & support junior members of the team and those with less experience in areas of specific expertise
Work in line with standard operating manuals and help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
Contribute to team goals and work autonomously when required
Essential Knowledge:
Previous experience as a technician in an electrical or industrial environment
Fluent in English, both written and orally

Team player with ability to work autonomously
Qualifications:
Secondary education in a technical field preferably Electrical Engineering
Previous experience in a data centre
