Accounts Assistant

On Behalf of our client, a growing and leading company based in Drogheda, Co. Louth. I am currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career working in a busy finance department. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with a can-do attitude and willing to learn and grow within the business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely issue of purchase invoices and sales invoices
  • Ensure invoices comply with supplier requirements with regard to PO
  • Manage the distribution of invoices
  • Reconcile Supplier Statements with Creditors Ledger on a monthly basis
  • Prepare weekly payment runs
  • Ensure all supplier payments are posted on Sage and bank accounts are reconciled monthly
  • Liaise with Operating Divisions regarding the creation and maintenance of suppliers on Sage
  • Assist Financial Controller in ad hoc projects & tasks
  • Ensure invoices comply with Customer requirements regarding purchase
  • Issue customer statements
  • Proactively review Customer profiles to establish opportunities for Direct Debits and other early payment opportunities
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Reconcile Debtors Ledger balances to Debtors Control Accounts in Nominal Ledge
  • Deal with all phone queries and chase up customer payments
  • Maintain schedules including cashflow forecast
  • Work with all departments within the company

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Accounting technician qualification (AITI) or studying towards it
  • 3 years’ experience working in an accounts department (Commercial industry preferable)
  • Experience using sage and Microsoft Applications: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Highly flexible, cooperative, adaptable day to day activities and hours
  • Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proactive mindset
