As “Master Scheduler and Production Planner” based in Dundalk you will be responsible for:
  • Perform medium term ( ~ 3 months) capacity analysis predicted load vs capacity for the overall production facility and individual production cells.
  • Running MRP weekly and subsequently producing work to do lists (production planning) in priority order for the production, procurement, dispatch & Site Installation departments
  • Constantly monitors dynamics and changes in machines, personnel, suppliers, stock etc and optimises the Master Schedule with the necessary changes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on planned vs actual production variances and supporting the Root Cause Analysis process in conjunction with production management.
  • Working with the Managing Director and the individual department Leaders so as to continually explore and implement more efficient methodologies and processes.
  • Become the MRP System “Super User” so that individuals have an internal point of contact as a daily support including modifying reports or reports of a bespoke nature.
  • Play an integral part of the associated Metric Management approach including Root Cause Analysis and solutions generation.
  • In conjunction with the senior management to support management meetings in terms of budgeting, deciding on eg Min Stock Levels, Economic Order Quantities, Production Standards etc.


Person Spec:

A Natural Leader with strong managerial capability who has good commercial knowledge and an understanding of Master Scheduling and Production Planning within a project-based production facility. Attention to detail is required and the individual will command respect as a leader and manager. Decision making ability and “challenging” ability (in a positive way) is also required. Needs to be able to relate and interact with all functional areas and associated personnel ensuring that the Master Schedule is maintained at all times. It is important that this person (as well as the natural ability to command respect) is of a strong character.




  • Support a smooth production operation via good planning & master scheduling.
  • Ensure a structure is in place to backfill in the case of sickness, holidays etc.
  • Assist (by way of leadership) the Production Cell Leaders (where necessary) in supporting a dynamic planning environment including what if scenarios.
  • Assist (by way of leadership) the Materials Management departmental functions such as inventory management, procurement where required.
  • Represent /support (where necessary) the above-mentioned functional positions at managerial meetings.
  • Ensure issues of strategic awareness (where necessary) is brought to the attention of the Managing Director eg trending or extensive capacity constraints.


Master Scheduling:

  • Ensure that the production operation is operating to the Master Schedule/Production Plan in all areas and that non achievements are being highlighted and managed effectively.
  • Ensure capacity utilisation is maximised throughout the planning process.
  • Establish that adequate “Key Performance Indicators” are established and reviewed with production supervisors and Team Member s on a timely basis.


Materials Management:


  • The Master Scheduler as part of MRP will constantly monitor materials dynamics and ensure that the scheduling process takes such dynamics into account.
  • Monitoring that the correct and acceptable quality materials are available at all times to support manufacturing and the Overall Schedule.
  • Working with the Procurement Manager on vendor issues such as “Frame Agreements, Fixed prices, JIT deliveries etc in line with a Materials Management Program.
  • Clearly identifying against the Master/Overall Schedule areas of non-compliance and ensuring that all possible actions are being taken to recover. 
  • Reporting to Management as to limitations/difficulties which become evident or are likely to happen and consequently could have a significant effect on the operation of the facility.
  • Making recommendations to management as to changes which will allow the organization to achieve additional thruput and/or reduce costs.


Business Management Systems:

As Master Scheduler and Production Planner you will be responsible for successfully implementing a Microsoft Dynamics MRP and Production Scheduling capability including but not limited to:

  • Rough Cut Capacity Planning RCCP)
  • Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Related Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
